Phantom 4 .. Is it ready?
Just raced out and bought a nice new Phantom 4? Or thinking about it .. don't rush.... It's just not that much better than the Phantom 3 (yet) My quick comments are as follows: 1: Whilst it has lots of automatic features like obstacle avoidance etc, you have to turn them all off for the Phantom to be usable and responsive. It's a pig with them all turned on and flies slow... real slow (22kph)!
2: The camera is a little better, but I don't know that its that much better than the Phantom 3. It does offer a little less distortion in the fringes, but thats probably about it 3: The new carry case they rave about, doesn't fit much
4: If you have multiple batteries and chargers, they won't fit the Phantom 4
5: There is no Multi charger unit yet for the Phantom 4 (Updated: There is now)
6: It will fly fast in "sports mode" but it has quite a few vibration and (on camera) prop issues at this point, so you pretty much back it off to Phantom 3 speed, plus it will burn a battery in minutes!
7: When you fly fast with your Phantom 4, don't expect much from your battery!
8: Many of them a reporting transmission issues with green bands on the Screen Maybe wait for the Phantom 5! (Due April 2017)
Anyway, its a good unit, but I wouldn't rush out and replace your Phantom 3!
