Personally I don't think you can beat buying direct from DJI! Their prices are excellent, speed is fast and their communication is good. We find that there are very few retailers that can beat them on price. The other thing I like about buying direct from DJI is that you normally get the latest stock. Some retailers have drones sitting around that has outdated software.

Buying used DJI Phantom equipment can be great and the cost savings can be huge! Generally speaking, most guys can't buy the new model until the old one has gone! So the motivation is high. Also, there's a lot people that buy them and then 3 months later they wonder why?

You can generally tell by the description and sellers feedback what the unit is like, but it's fair to ask if the unit has ever had a serious crash. And this is more like to upset the battery than the unit.
I don't think I'd recommend buying used batteries under most situations!
