GO PRO or DJI PHANTOM VISION?
"Hi David ,I wondered if you could give me a simple answer in your opinion go pro 3 plus black ( already have ) on gimbal or.... Phantom vision ? " Cheers MM Sunny and cold Yorkshire !!
Hi M! In my opinion, slightly different animals! Heres a few thoughts from our point of view Remember that anything I suggest is "straight out of the box"
Once you start modifying things, its like comparing a race car and a production vehicle! The GoPro (Whilst no better quality in its native form) does have a less harsh artefacting system which tends to make images look softer, but a little cleaner. The vision goes all out to make the images sharp, but adds enhancement artefacts in the process. The Go Pro does offer higher resolution imaging with the 2.7 and 4k options, but its still just more of the same actual quality.
A chip is a chip!
If it was clean at 1920 it would be the same at 4k! So the artefacts etc will still be there, but just a little more to work with if you zoom it up to stabilize or image treat (or the like.) Clearly to go the gimble, means full FPV set up as well, as the GoPro has no monitoring, so its a bigger commitment cost wise. The vision offers ZOOMING which is a great feature on many jobs.
(And a host of good navigation features) So I guess it really comes down to what you are shooting! Big landscapes and low passes, I guess I would select the GoPro (With a Phantom 2 - Not 1) But as an all rounder and much less cost, I think the vision is a pretty fair contender and delivers quite good results! Let me know if you have any more questions! D See our video segment on DJI Phantom 2 camera quality
